Employee Benefit Trusts

Employee Benefit Trusts have enjoyed a period of great popularity, so much so that specific legislation has been introduced to prevent their use in ways that Revenue have deemed to be an abuse. Principally this prevents the deduction of the payments into an Employee Benefit Trust for corporation tax purposes unless certain conditions are met which give rise to a tax and National Insurance charge.

This does not entirely negate their use however and they have a role in certain circumstances.
