New TIEA with Portugal

12/07/2010

The Isle of Man signed a Tax Information Exchange Agreement (TIEA) with the Portuguese Republic on 9 July 2010.  This is the 16th TIEA the Isle of Man has signed and the 19th agreement that meets the OECD international standard on tax co-operation and transparency.

The two countries also signed a joint declaration that states the intention to conclude an agreement for the allocation of taxing rights over certain income of individuals and to establish a mutual agreement procedure in connection with the adjustment of profits of associated enterprises.  They further intend to integrate such an agreement with the TIEA into a comprehensive double taxation agreement (DTA) in due course.
